We just got home from a FUN, mostly relaxing trip to Hawaii!
We stayed with Auntie Joia, Uncle Matt, Bailey, and Francie in Ko'olina in Oahu which was a perfect spot with little ones - a nice pool steps away from our townhouse and 4 lagoons nearby with sandy beaches and calm blue water.
Read below for more details on the trip... BEWARE LOTS OF PHOTOS!
DAY 1 (Tuesday): Highlights: Hanging out at the beautiful Ko'Olina Lagoons, Lucy eating sand, Mommy getting to read by the pool at naptime with Auntie Joia (after a delicious Lava Flow made by Joia), Long walk along the lagoons in the afternoon with Auntie Joia & Francie, Grilling burgers and drinking coronas at nightDAY 2 (Wednesday): Highlights: Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona memorial (this was really cool - we took a boat out to the memorial and saw the sunken ship with tropical fish swimming around the ship and pools of oil still leaking out after 60+ years), Pool time after naps (Lucy practiced her swimming techniques), Uncle Matt grilled a delicious Opa & we drank more corona!
DAY 3 (Thursday): Highlights: Walking down to spend the day at the beach/lagoons, swimming in the ocean, Lucy eating more sand, spending the evening shopping at Ala Moana (Auntie Joia and mommy shopped a lot and I bought Lucy and Bailey matching Hello Kitty sequin purses and pineapple chapstick), eating Saimin (like Ramen)
DAY 4 (Friday): Highlights: Spending the day at Lanikai beach with its fine white sand (Kailua was closed), Lucy eating more sand, Finding Lucy's poop on our towel because those disposable swim diapers don't work very well, Daddy getting to eat his Maui Taco, Mommy being trapped in the very backseat of the mini van :), Lucy's first pig tails...
DAY 5 (Saturday): Highlights: Spending the day at Ko'Olina beach/lagoon with just mommy, daddy, and Lucy. Eating a delicious meal (mommy finally got her seared ahi) at the nearby bar & grill. Auntie Joia, Uncle Matt, Bailey & Francie went to the North Shore to watch the big waves and the surfing competition. We ended up not going to the game - it was a night game and raining, so we decided it wasn't going to be much fun with the kids, but we watched it on the TV and cheered on the Huskies from the comfort of our condo with more Corona (Huskies lost).
Day 6 (Sunday): Highlights: Matt, Joia, and family left for the airport and mommy, daddy, & Lucy had to kill time waiting for our 11pm flight :(. We had fun at Ward Warehouse & Ala Moana shopping some more. Mommy's childhood favorite shave ice place in Manoa was closed. :(
Day 7 (Monday): Highlights: finally home after an all night flight!! Yucky weather! :(
